Geomorphology
Geomorphic Mapping :
GGI has completed geomorphic mapping projects for analysis of sediment transport through canyons in the vicinity of Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL), to examine the geomorphic context of archaeological sites and fossil localities, and to evaluate wetlands mitigation sites.
GGI has also collaborated in geomorphic and geologic mapping projects with LANL and New Mexico Bureau of Geology (NMBOG), including mapping of the Valles Caldera National Preserve.

Geoarcheology:
GGI has extensive expertise in examination of the soil stratigraphic context of archaeological sites to provide information on temporal context, site integrity, and correlations between sites.
Soils Investigations:
Soils investigations are utilized to support geomorphic mapping, geoarchaeology, wetlands delineation and mitigation projects, and Pleistocene-Holocene stratigraphic investigations. GGI has broad experience conducting soils investigations in a wide range of climatic regimes and geographic areas.
Fluvial Geomorphology:
Sediment and Contaminant Transport:
GGI has extensive experience in evaluating sediment transport, in particular through canyons draining the Pajarito Plateau from Los Alamos National Laboratory. GGI has worked with LANL personnel to calculate inventories of radionuclide, heavy metal, semivolatile, and volatile organic contaminants adsorbed to sediments.
(Ephemeral stream contaminant distribution publication).

Stratigraphic Analysis of Pleistocene Vertebrate Fossil Sites:
Dendrochronology:
|
GGI collects, prepares, and analyzes cores collected from a variety of species. Dendrochronology analyses are used to constrain the timing of flood events for sediment transport investigations, to examine Acequia histories, to evaluate the timing of stream channel migration, and as another facet of geoarchaeological investigations.
